Hickory Bottoms is located off Mount Olive Road in the north central portion of the refuge.

The site highlights a 200-acre tract of contiguous forest with large shagbark hickories, oaks and cypress. It has received national recognition for its songbird populations. The site is a popular hunting and wildlife watching shagbark hickory spot. Trail length: 1.5 miles. Difficulty: Easy

						1 Free Fishing Day at the Cache TBA Date: June TBA Location: Shawnee Community College Pond Come out for a fun afternoon of fishing! Kids can learn the basics of knot-tying, hook- baiting and casting. Rods and reels will be loaned on a first come first-served basis. No fishing license is required for the day. Learn how to use flowers and other plant parts collected from trees, vines, and other natural items to create personal note cards.
